Timber Hall Farm

 Therapeutic Riding Program



 

The therapeutic riding program and Timber Hall Farm is an equine therapy program that benifits military and war injured personnel, as well as the general disabled population, in the vicinity of Brooke Army Medical Center and Northeast San Antonio communities. Our program is modeled after the Horses for Heroes program. In addition to learning horsemanship skills, our riders gain balance, core strength, muscle strength and tone, confidence, coordination and a sense of accomplishment.



MISSION STATEMENT:

To develop, promote, and admininister an equine therapy program that benefits military and war injured personnel, as well as the general handicapper/ disabled population, in the vicinity of Brooke Army Medical Center and Northeast San Antonio communities.

The therapeutic riding program teaches the rider horsemanship skills as well as balance, core strength, muscle strengthand muscle tone, confidence, coordination and a sense of accomplishment.    ( Therapy as modeled after the Horses for Heroes program.)

GOAL:

To help the phisically and mentally challenged veterans and public of all ages to enjoy the riding experience as well as improving balance, core strength, coorination, communication and confidence.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Lesson length depends upon the physical stamina of each individual client.  Lesson scope considers the needs of the rider.

Our facility can accommodate ride times to fit you schedule.

Instructions include but not limited to: multiple sclerosis, ADHD, down syndrome, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, juvenile arthritis, autism.

Safety for our riders and horses is our foremost concern. All of our instructors are current on CPR and First Aid certification as of August 2008.

**** We are in the process of acquiring our 501 (c)(3) non profit organization status. And becoming a registered member of NARHA North American Riding for the Handicapped Association.

Volunteers and donations will be gratefully accepted once our permits and registrations are in place.
